Janka Gewürztraminer 2008 VINEYARD Appellation: Oregon Yield: 2.5 tons per acre average Vineyard: Airlie and Anindor Vineyards (unirrigated) Goldridge sedimentary soils, with silt, sand an clay Vines: 15 years average age Alcohol: 11.2% and 18.9 degrees residual sugar PRODUCTION 76 cases of 375 ml HARVEST Harvest date: two lots picked October 15th (Anindor) and 23rd (Airlie) of 2008 Harvest Brix: 20 average WINEMAKING Hand harvested grapes were frozen for 5 weeks at 5 degrees Farenheit and then pressed in a Champagne press for over 2 ½ days to obtain a juice of an average of 38.8 degrees Brix. Fermented cooly and in stainless for over four months, in order to retain freshness and varietal intensity. Released in July 2009. WINEMAKERS TASTING NOTES AND COMMENTS

Janka wine displays a beautiful golden color, while offering aroma’s of honey, apricots, nectarine and an intense floral perfume. In the mouth, this wine is sweet, round and yet balanced with its acidity; it explodes with fruit flavors and has a smooth lingering finish. Serve chilled. Kept in the refrigerator, it will remain fresh after opening for up three weeks. |
